The Prologue :
At Island, we believe that every piece of stone tells a unique story—a tale of nature’s artistry, resilience, and timeless beauty. Our journey began almost two and a half decades ago, fuelled by a suburban family’s dream to bridge the gap between people and nature. Picture a makeshift office in the heart of a living room, where cardboard boxes and a bedsheet served as our humble desk. From this unassuming start, Style in Stones emerged.
Our Story:
Style in Stones emerged during the tumultuous days of the global financial crisis in 2008. Founded by Island Stone India, our mission was clear: supply high-quality, handcrafted stone products to the discerning Western market. The founders faced a pivotal choice—to sell their stake to their partners or forge ahead independently. They chose the latter, keeping their legacy alive.
Our canvas expanded beyond mere surfaces. In 2013, liberated from previous partnership, we embarked on our own journey. Distributors sprouted across the Americas and Australia, carrying our legacy forward. But 2019 brought a shift. The pandemic cooled export markets, prompting us to look inward. India beckoned—a land of contrasts, where margins were razor-thin, and creativity soared. Stone engravings replaced conventional mosaics; precision designs became our compass.
To keep pace with India’s rapid innovation, we invested in our future. Our first CNC machine arrived—a sentinel in our workshops. Challenges abounded—the fickle labour market, the scarcity of skilled designers and line workers. We trained, learned, and persisted. Now, after three years, fifteen CNC machines hum in unison, etching stories into marble, granite, and sandstone.
Our founders’ son, based in Australia, joins the fold as Creative Director. His fresh perspective infuses Style in Stones with renewed Vigor. We’re not just manufacturers; we’re storytellers. Our promise: high-quality products, shaped by imagination, delivered in any form our customer’s desire.
